It's Tradition

Nothing will melt my heart faster than seeing a father and daughter all dressed up and dancing together. Last weekend was the Father-Daughter dance at school. Katey and Mike have been able to attend each year since Kindergarten - this year being their 4th event! Mike describes it sort-of like a middle school dance: girls all in a clump on the dance floor and boys men standing to the side, watching for most of the evening. But, there are the few slow dances that bring the dads and daughters together to share special moments. Oh, and the food helps with that, too (at least in Mike and Katey's case).

The highlights of the evening included Katey hanging out with her classroom BFF, Abby, making crafts and stopping on the way home for an ice cream cone. I'm pretty sure that Mike enjoyed having Abby's dad as a companion to hang out with while the girls were...well, being girls.

Here are some pictures from the evening:
The girls working on crafts - Abby is the one in purple.

This girl has some serious moves!

The theme for the evening was "Red Carpet Event" so Katey is holding up her VIP pass!

Katey picked out Mike's tie (and Jr. Asparagus IS tradition!)

These are shots from each of the previous dances:

That is so sweet! What great memories for both Mike and Katey. She has grown up so much and has changed so much.

The girls Father Daughter Banquet was last Saturday, but since it was kind of expensive ($25 a head) and Todd would have had to take both the girls and split his time, the girls decided that they would rather have one on one dates with him. I think they are all excited about that.
