Terrific Kids

We have 2 pretty terrific kids.

Katey ran her sixth 5K last weekend and managed to shave several minutes off her personal best to set a new (personal) record!!  She and Mike crossed the finish line in right at 36 minutes!  As always, Katey thoroughly enjoyed her season of Girls On the Run and was especially excited about the post-race pizza and cake celebration.

Seth got the Terrific Kid award for his class this grading period!  We were treated to breakfast and a presentation of awards.  His teacher wrote a very nice paragraph as to why Seth was chosen for the award and he was all smiles as he heard it being read.  Seth was so excited about this honor that he could hardly stand it and must have told us 10 times how overjoyed he was!  (We won't mention the part about his whining and complaining over being made to wear a collared "church shirt" to school. HA!)

 

We are so proud of both of our TERRIFIC kids!

Lucky!!

Katey is turning out to be quite the lucky little girl.

#1 - She participated in the Science Fair at school and got a ribbon! It was a participation ribbon, but a ribbon none-the-less, and she was thrilled!
Katey's project was the Potato Clock and she worked very hard on the experiment and putting the whole presentation board together. We were very proud of her hard work!


#2 - I remember as a child hunting and hunting to find the ever-elusive 4 leaf clover and getting lucky once a year or so. Katey has been scouring our yard this year and has found more 4 leaf clovers than we can keep track of! If they are, indeed, lucky charms then this household is set for life!! :-)

#3 - Katey completed her fourth 5K this morning. The best part? The medal...always the medal!!

#4 - Okay, she hasn't been deemed "lucky" on this one yet, but Katey submitted an entry to our PTA on why her teacher is the best. After it was completed I was looking it over and found this on the back:

'Tis the Season

'Tis the season for running...
Running in a 5K (for the 3rd time in a year!). Katey and Mike completed the Girls on the Run 5K in right at 40 minutes - a 5-6 minute improvement over the run in the Spring!! Way to go Katey and Daddy!
By the way, it was a horribly cold morning and there were even some snow flurries seen!

'Tis the season for spelling...
Katey won her class spelling bee for the 2nd year in a row! She went on to compete at the school-wide level but unfortunately didn't win it...her stumbling word this time was: testimony. Rats! One great thing though was that Katey was much more confident and relaxed than last year. Maybe 5th grade will be her year!
